A news website has reported that popular gospel music group, Midnight Crew, is in crisis. According to the report, two members of the group are not happy with other two members for pursuing their solo careers while still with the group.
Sources told the news journal that two members of Midnight Crew; Gbenga Oyebola and Odunayo Ojo, are allegedly not happy that Mike Abdul and Pat Uwaje-King have pursued their solo careers leaving the others to live on the success made from their 'Igwe' hit single.
"Now, the other two; Gbenga Oyebola and Odunayo Ojo, seem not to be happy about the development, but what can they do?,” the report quoted a source close to the music group.
Giving an insight on how the trouble started, a source reportedly told the website that, "other members of the group became unhappy when Mike started featuring for different artistes.
"Mike took that step when people started to insinuate that Pat was the only active member of the group, while the three others were just passive members.
"Their hit song, ‘Igwe’, which Pat virtually single-handedly sang all through by herself, made people to think that way. Others were not too happy about what people were saying. It touched them, which got Mike into action.
"Now, he has finally made a statement for himself, but it is not the same case for Gbenga and Odun[ayo].
"They are just trying to manage the situation, but I can categorically tell you that all is not well with the Midnight Crew," a source narrated to the news journal.
But reacting to the story when contacted, the group's manager, Modupe said, "the only truth is that each member of the group will pursue their solo careers. It (the solo careers of Mike and Pat) will [surely] raise an alarm, but it is part of the marketing strategy. They are presently in America."
While Mike Abdul presently has a single entiled 'Morire', Pat has 'Eze', which she is also promoting.
Midnight Crew gained fame some years ago with their 'Igwe' hit song. They won many awards with the song. They are yet to produce another hit single since then.
